Solo Cantata Concert
Sunday, November 21
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
We open our 2021-22 season with a slimmed-down version of our usual Sunday afternoon free concert. Our concern for the welfare of our performers and our audience gives us an opportunity to highlight some of Bach's solo cantatas, along with favorite arias and duets from other works. Four soloists and a small chamber orchestra will perform; the choir will not be singing in this concert.
Seating is limited, and groups will be separated from each other. Advance registration is required, so that we can control the number of people in attendance.
Program
Alto aria, BWV 200, "Bekennen will ich seinen Namen," Hannah Penn, alto
Duet for Alto, Tenor, Cantata 149, “Seid wachsam, ihr heiligen Wächter,” Hannah Penn, alto; Leslie Green, tenor
Tenor aria from Christmas Oratorio, “Frohe Hirten,” Leslie Green, tenor
Alto aria from Christmas Oratorio, “Schliesse, mein Herz,” Hannah Penn, alto
Cantata BWV 32, “Liebster Jesu, mein verlangen”, Vakarė Petroliūnaitė, soprano; Jacob Herbert, bass
The final chorale will be sung by the four soloists
