Super Bach Sunday: Mozart Visits Leipzig
Virtual Lecture featuring Dr. Michael Maul, Artistic Director, Leipzig Bach Festival
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Maul, Artistic Director for the Leipzig Bach Festival in Germany, will be our guest lecturer for Super Bach Sunday.
The Zoom lecture will take place on Sunday afternoon, February 7, at 2:00 pm. Dr. Maul will tell the story of Mozart's visit to Leipzig in 1789, when Mozart was treated to a performance of choral music by J.S. Bach. The lecture will be followed by a video presentation by Ralph Nelson (including the score) of Bach’s Motet #1 “Singet dem Herrn”, the work that so impressed Mozart.
This entertaining and informative lecture will replace the traditional Super Bach concert that we normally offer on Super Bowl Sunday. The lecture is limited to 500 Zoom participants.
